Operationalizing Responsible Autonomy in Human-AI Collaboration
Abstract: In human–AI collaboration, both people and AI agents need to exercise autonomy at the right moments and within appropriate boundaries. This relies on each agent understanding what actions they can take, when they need help or resources from others, and how to interact effectively to obtain them. To support responsible autonomy in these settings, we propose using consent as a unifying abstraction. Although consent has been a part of the software ecosystem, there has been little work to understand its dynamics formally, and even less from the perspective of human expectations; this talk will address these gaps and outline research directions.
